NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks that are moving substantially or
trading heavily Monday on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq
Stock Market:
NYSE
Countrywide Financial Corp., down 62 cents at $5.36
Bank of America Corp. should drop plans to buy the embattled
mortgage lender, according to one analyst, who expects its loan
portfolio to drag on earnings.
Marvel Entertainment Inc., up $2.85 at $33.10
The company boosted its full-year profit and sales outlook,
after Marvel Studios' "Iron Man" raked in $100.7 million in its
opening weekend.
Pilgrim's Pride Corp., down 23 cents at $23.87
The nation's largest chicken producer posted a bigger
second-quarter loss on high feed costs, but plans to cut production
to boost prices.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., down 53 cents at $56.97
The world's largest retailer is expanding its discounted
prescription drug program by charging $10 for a 90-day prescription
supply.
Sprint Nextel Corp., up 83 cents at $8.72
T-Mobile parent Deutsche Telekom AG may make a buyout offer
for the operator of the third-biggest cell-phone business in the
U.S., a report said.
NASDAQ
Yahoo Inc., down $4.30 at $24.37
Microsoft Corp. retracted its takeover bid of $47.5 billion,
or $33 per share, upsetting shareholders unhappy with the search
engine operator's performance.
Zoltek Cos., down $2.37 at $25.20
Chief Financial Officer Kevin J. Schott resigned following
accounting errors, and a search for his replacement is underway, the
carbon fibers supplier said.
Hain Celestial Group Inc., up 89 cents at $25.51
More consumers ate at-home meals to save money, helping the
organic food company's profit match Wall Street expectations when
adjusted.
